Jean Freedman
Jean Freedman has a BA in theater and an MA and PhD in folklore. She has published two books: Whistling in the Dark: Memory and Culture in Wartime London (University Press of Kentucky, 1999) and Peggy Seeger: A Life of Music, Love, and Politics (University of Illinois Press, 2017). Her articles have appeared in books, journals, and newspapers, including the New York Times and the Washington Post. She currently teaches at the George Washington University and is a writing tutor at Montgomery College. She also conducts oral history projects and leads theater workshops based on personal stories.
